INTERNATIONAL EMMY ® AWARD WINNER
Matt has two decades of experience creating stories on screens, stages and books. He cut his teeth as an indie film maker, self financing his own stories and garnering success at prized international festivals.
His childhood in Brisbane with a single mother and brother shape the stories that resonate with him.
Matt's the co-creator, executive producer, writer, director, show runner, and actor on the AACTA nominated series Spooky Files for ABC and BBC. Produced by TAP (Tony Ayres Productions) and Megaboom Pictures. Season 2 is now out. Check it out.
Matt co-created, wrote, acted in and was a director on the Emmy® award winning, and twice Emmy ® nominated, comedy series Hardball. Produced by Northern Pictures for ABCME. It played for 23 episodes. This series won international awards including Best Children’s Fiction Program at the Prix Jeunesse International Awards, BANFF Rockies, The Remis, Japan Prize, and others. Hardball can be seen on all around the world and on Netflix locally.
Matt has co-written two critically-acclaimed kids book series - Zoo Crew, published by Scholastic, and Zombie Diaries, published by Hardie Grant. Zombie Diaries has been translated into 10 languages.
He's made feature films that have screened at film festivals such as Tribeca Film Festival, Toronto Inside Out Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival. He’s made short films that were finalists at Tropfest Film Festival.
As an actor he’s been in shows such as Spooky Files, Secret City, Home and Away, Hardball, Friday on My Mind and Underbelly, to name a few. On stage, he starred in the world premiere productions of Holding the Man in Australia and London's West End, worked for Belvoir St, Griffin, Ensemble Theatre Co, Melbourne Theatre Co, and more.
Matt writes, directs and produces the NIDA 3rd Year graduate showreels. He has done this for 9 years and loves collaborating with emerging artists. Check them out.
Matt is in demand as a tutor at acting institutions across the country and runs Sydney Screen Acting in Alexandria where he takes great pride guiding and mentoring aspiring actors.
Matt's long time collaborator Guy Edmonds and him run the production company Megaboom Pictures with Paul Watters.
