Matt is a slashie. He’s spent the last two decades creating stories on screens, stages and books. He cut his teeth as an independent film maker, self financing his own stories and garnering success at prized international festivals.

His challenging childhood in Brisbane with a single mother and brother shape the stories and characters that resonate with him.

Matt co-created/wrote, acted in and was a director on the Emmy® award winning, and twice Emmy® nominated, live action comedy series Hardball. Hardball was produced by Northern Pictures for ABCME. It played for 23 episodes over 2 seasons, this series won a stack of international awards including Best Children’s Fiction Program at the Prix Jeunesse International Awards, BANFF Rockies, The Remis, Japan Prize, and others. Hardball can be seen on CBBC (UK), France Televisions (France), NRK (Norway), RTE (Ireland), TVO (Canada), TVB (Hong Kong), SABC (South Africa) and more. 

Matt has co-written two critically-acclaimed kids book series - Zoo Crew, published by Scholastic, and Zombie Diaries, published by Hardie Grant. Zombie Diaries has been translated into 8 languages. Matt has a new book series set for release in 2025 with Hardie Grant.  

He's made feature films that have screened at film festivals such as Tribeca Film Festival, Toronto Inside Out Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival. He’s made shorts that finalists at Tropfest Film Festival.

As an actor he’s been in notable shows such as Spooky Files, Secret City, Home and Away, Hardball, Friday on My Mind and Underbelly, to name a few. 
On stage, he starred in the world premiere productions of Holding the Man in Australia and London's West End.

He has been in many productions at Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir St, Griffin Theatre Co, and Ensemble Theatre Co. 
He is a passionate acting teacher and has spent the last eight years co-writing, directing and producing the NIDA third year actors graduating showreels.

Matt is in demand as a tutor at acting institutions across the country and runs Sydney Screen Acting, his own screen acting class in Leichhardt.

Matt has a rich history of collaboration with Guy Edmonds. Together they have created content of all sorts and had a blast while doing it! They run
